This workshop series covers how HBCUs are uniquely suited to driving the strategy for open education due to their rich history centering culture and care for their students.

As part of a Hewlett Foundation grant led by Tennessee State University, MERLOT, and SkillsCommons, this four-part workshop series introduces the principles of an open culture through five dynamic playbooks and accompanying webinars and online course content.

Across this free, fully-online, self-paced learning experience, you’ll explore:

  • What open culture consists of and why it is critical to supporting learning at HBCUs
  • The ways in which open culture supports collaborative, creative, and connective learning in and out of the classroom
  • Real-world examples of open culture in action—and how to contribute your own case examples to the HBCU community.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
